I have a custom object (Work Request) that has a lookup to the account object. sometimes the account also has a partner account. I need a report that shows the work request info as well as info on both the account and partner account. I built a custom report type but the only way to get it to work as Accounts as primary object (A).. With or Without Partners (B). with or without Work Requests (C). This gets me the data that I want but it shows me every account with a partner relationship.. I want all work requests with necessary account information. I cannot figure out how to use the custom report type and cannot figure out if anything is possible with a joined report.. any help will be appreciated

I am not sure you can get what you are looking for.

If Account is not required on Work Order then you should write your report based on Work Order and  not on Account .   If you write it on Account you automatically lost any Work Orders that are not associated to an Account.

I created a report type on Work Order then went in and Edit the Layout and added the Account Field via Lookup.

I can then pull a report based on Work Order criteria and see all Account information if there is an Account associated to the Work Order.

Partner has no associated to Work Order.

Sorry I could not assist further.
