When my organization was set up, it had the self-service portal implemented as well.

 

However, we don't need it, and due to the nature of our company, never will... And sometimes the extra stuff gets in the way, like the extra 10 email templates for self-service issues that I have to scan through to find my template that I want.

 

Is there a way to get rid of the whole thing, or "unimplement" it?

    Well, you can disable login to it at Setup | Customize | Self-Service | Self-Service Portal | Settings (and press the Self-Service Setup button), but all the settings will remain intact.  So no, you can't exactly unimplement it.
