For Named Credentials, is there planned support for header API keys? Some endpoints are secured by a simple value rather than username/password. I wonder whether we can expect this to become available in near future.
(Not sure who's the product owner for Named Credentials, pls fwd accordingly.)

Interesting hack @Jan Aertgeerts !
Assuming you enter the API key into password (and some dummy value into username), deselect "Generate Authorization Header", but select "Allow Merge Fields in HTTP Header" and then apply the password as a custom header in Apex.
I would still ask
@Courtney Dascenzo to consider providing a standard way for API key authorization and so allow non-Apex usage of such Named Credentials.
