Lightning Sales Console - I need some advice and have some questions.

  • I want to be able to when a user clicks on an account auto open (without them clicking on them) open all of the open opportunities for that account in subtabs for that account.  I found this release note https://releasenotes.docs.salesforce.com/en-us/winter18/release-notes/rn_general_lightning_console_nav_rules.htm and after playing with this in my sandbox it seems the user still has to click. It's not like an auto open.  Can I do something like that?  OK if it requires code, I have a dev team, just not sure what to tell them to do and if it's possible.
  • What's the difference between the sales console and me creating an app through app builder that has a console navigation?  Are they the same thing?  This is probably the most lightning NOOB question you've seen today ha!
  • when setting navigation rules for tasks it says for multiple objects.  Can I make different rules for different objects for tasks or for different record types within objects?  We use FSC, so we'd likely want things to display differently for Business vs. Household vs. Individual.
  • And to the last point with console could I set it up so that when user opens a business any households rolling up to that business that have tasks associated that are due today could I open them in subtabs automatically?
  • Essentially what I'm trying to see if I can create is a centric/actionable view of a business using console.  Meaning let's say there is Cheryl Enterprises as a business account underneath that there is a household for Cheryl's Pizza Place, another for Cheryl's Other pizza place, and another for Cheryl's tire shop.  Each one of these businesses are sub businesses for the overall enterprise and would be represented as households essentially in FSC.  So as a banker or an advisor I want to look at Cheryl Enterprises and be able to see what's out there for tasks, opportunities and etc etc etc that's all rolled up and action on them.  I thought console would be a good idea for this?  Maybe its a terrible idea.  Not sure. Would love to talk to someone who maybe has done this.

@Cheryl Feldman I'm doing this in Lightning as well. I built out a Hierarchy Tab on my Account Record page that includes all records from all Accounts in the hierarchy from 5 different objects. This works best in a Console App. I can select and work with any of those records directly from the Account screen.
