We are having an issue with loading dashboards on the home pages , based on the role of the user. This was earlier achieved using javascript variables and passing URLs in the iframe. Could anyone please advise on how to achieve this in lightning ?

Lightning components on the Home Page can reference attributes of the running user as of Spring '18. No need for passing variables in - simply edit in the Lightning App Builder - then go into the Set Visibility section for the component and choose the value on the user record you want to use for the DB.
