Question about email in lightning:
Can someone explain the difference between the quick actions
Send Email
Send An Email
All three are available to be placed in a page layouts "Salesforce 1 and Lightning Experience Actions" section of the page layout.
Only "Email" appears in the "Quick Actions in the Salesforce Classic Publisher"
The one appearing in the top action bar, is displayed as "send email" and actually opens your own email client to send the email.
The one appearing in the activity quick actions, uses the standard Salesforce interface for sending an email from Salesforce and recording it as an activity. (this is the preferred approach for us), and appears as a tab labeled "Email".
I've read a lot of the documentation but what's described in the documentation doesn't match the naming conventions and labels I'm seeing.
Anyone have a simple explanation of which action is which, and which action is displayed in the object actions in the highlight section, versus which action is a tab within the activities component?
Could this possibly be any more confusing? :-)

Hi Larry, for your question about label names, feel free to rename the label to what you like. Those actions all have names that are different from labels anyway, so it wouldn't confuse the issue more.
