Have you see the Tableau Public Coronavirus Dashboards? I thought I would have some fun and built my own Tableau Public version using the data from the Johns Hopkins Dashboard (Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS).
Finding a live and clean data source was more difficult that it should have been. Even the Johns Hopkins data has formatting and consistency issues. I had to do a wildcard union and pivot to make the data easier to work with.
While the dashboards all look nice, I find a lot to be lacking. What I want to know is:
- How does this outbreak compare with others. Is this one faster? Is this on bigger? ... i.e. show me a graph of the cases over time comparing various outbreaks
- How does this outbreak compare to the regular flu? ... again show me the curves, and show the fatality rate.
What are your thoughts? What questions do you have that are not being answered? What is the best visualization you have seen so far?
Hi Jason,
Have you tried Kaggle for a data-source? COVID-19 Complete Dataset (Updated every 24hrs) | Kaggle Best, Don
