I updated from the 2021.x versions to 2022 in Q3 of 2022 and since then I've been plagued by the older versions continually reappearing (after uninstall) and on top of that they are the default (eg when I open a new instance of desktop by opening a downloaded workbook it will open in the older version).
I uninstalled everything, deleted the Tableau program folders, and did a 'tableau' keyword search in regedit and deleted everything I found there. The problem persists

Thanks Rain. I did that also, I just forgot to include it. I was going off probably that same old post that you referenced!
