Hi,

I am doing some performance checks and wanted to know if the underlying data source makes any difference when using extracts.

I know it would depend on a lot of factors but generally would the performance of dashboards using extracts where underlying data sources is Redshift be better than that of extracts when underlying data source is postgres.

Thanks,

Extracts are essentially a separate copy of the data, stored in Tableau's "Hyper" database format. So, once the data is moved from a database into Hyper, the resulting performance should be the same. The only difference you'll see is in the time it takes to refresh the extract since that has to connect to the original database.
