We published a dashboard with 3 extract data sources. One data source is wildcard union of multiple excel spreadsheets. The Excel files are saved in our organization shared drive and are added regularly. I can refresh successfully on Tableau Desktop, but Tableau Server only refresh the original Excel without conducting the union.
Can anyone let me know how to refresh the full wildcard union on Tableau Server? If it's not possible, is there any workaround?
PS: We cannot change the file type, as the spreadsheet is from a external vendor.

I would recommend to read the article from @Ken Flerlage where he writes about all the conditions to use file based data sources. One extra point, that is in the comments but not in the article. When publishing be sure to uncheck the "include external files".
