Appending data to an existing incremental extract that the mssql data source server name has changed
Hello,
I have an existing incremental extract with a mssql db data source that the server name has changed as part of an internal migration from physical server to virtual but they did not create an alias to the old server name (everything else is the same i.e. dbname, tables etc.) , when I edit the server connection with the new server name it automatically creates a new extract and does not append to the existing incremental extract. Is there a way to retain my existing extract and append from the new server.

Received a response from Tableau Support and this is not currently supported...see below
Currently, the ability to change the server connection information for an extract is not built into the product. Tableau Desktop views the renamed server as an entirely different server and as such it is unable to change the connection info to the new server. In order to switch the extract to the server it will be necessary to rebuild the extract while connected to the (new) renamed server.
