Hi everyone,

I’m using VisualEditor.DynamicPickList to populate a design attribute picklist for a Lightning Web Component in the Lightning App Builder.

Implementation overview:

  • Records are fetched using Apex from a custom object.
  • The results are returned via VisualEditor.DynamicPickList.
  • The picklist displays correctly in the component properties panel.

Observed behavior:

  • After the values are loaded, Salesforce uses its built-in search functionality to filter the picklist.
  • The search appears to be case-sensitive (for example, “Example Survey” vs “example survey”).
  • Users must enter the exact capitalization to find a value.

What I tried:

  • Normalizing values in Apex (lowercase/uppercase).
  • Searching Salesforce documentation and Trailblazer Community posts for information on case-insensitive support.

I wasn’t able to find any official documentation confirming whether:

  • Case-insensitive search is supported for VisualEditor.DynamicPickList, or
  • The search behavior can be customized or overridden.

Question:

Is this case-sensitive search behavior a known Salesforce limitation, or is there a supported way to make the search case-insensitive for dynamic picklists in the Lightning App Builder?

Any guidance, confirmation, or workaround suggestions would be appreciated.

Or i think u can do this as well..

Since the search only finds exactly what is in the label, you can change the label in your Apex code to include both versions.

    • What you do: Change the label to look like this: Example Survey (example survey).
    • Result: If the user types "Example" or "example," it will show up. It’s a bit ugly, but it works immediately without extra complex coding.
