Question, is it possible todo an inplace upgrade from Tableau server 2023.3 to the latest version or the latest version -1. OR from 2023.3 to the latest version in the 2023 series? im looking to do inplace upgrade only. whats the latest version i can safely upgrade to for my situation. thanks!
Hi, the first thing I would recommend is to do a blue green upgrade:

Also, there have been reports or inplace upgrades that report problems during the upgrade. In the issues page, those are reported as solution deployed or closed, but I think that is a warning.
On the other side, if you decide for an inplace upgrade, I remember that when I took the Architect course, the recommendation of the instructor was to perform a step upgrade. Thus, upgrade to 2024.2, and then to 2025.1. I highly don't recommend an inplace upgrade, I just wanted to give a context so you can take the best decission.
Finally, I don't recommend the 2024.2.x release. It has shown so many bugs (some of them has been solved). 2025.1.x releases has shown less bugs. However, review the issues page to be aware of some of the current issues. These issues, definitely are another reason why you should on board on a blue green upgrade (to assess if any of the issues affects you).
