Do you have any advice on keeping your trails straight? I seem to get mine tangled and I can't always find where I've created a custom object.

To find custom objects you created. Go to Setup by clicking on the gear icon in the upper-right corner. Go to Object Manager tab, you'll see a list of all objects in Salesforce. You can Search or Filter for Custom Objects by their names. You can identify custom objects by their API name, which typically ends in __c.
