Situation:
Some of our physical Products are shipped in standard boxes called Masterbox.
We need to list the appropriate dimensions of the Masterbox on each Product’s record page.
A custom object Masterbox has been created. It lists the Masterbox’s name, height, length and width.
A lookup field from the Product standard object, links to the appropriate Masterbox.
A flow was successfully put in place that allows the user to select, from the Product page, the appropriate Masterbox (with the lookup field). It then populates the height, length and width information from the Masterbox record to the Product record.
Goal:
Now, should a user make changes to a Masterbox’s record, we need to trigger an update. This update will then fetch the new data and repopulate the Product’s fields.
What’s been done so far / Problem encountered:
Two flows have been created. One to commit changes to the Mastercase record, and the other the recall the committed data and to use it to update the Product record.
I did this as, it seems the flows are executing just fine but the Update Record element seems to always output the old data.
I also tried to do it as a subflow but it didn't work either!
First Flow:
Object: Mastercase
Trigger: A record is updated
Condition: Formula Evaluated to True
OR( ISCHANGED({!$Record.Mastercase_Height_cm__c}), ISCHANGED({!$Record.Mastercase_Length_cm__c}), ISCHANGED({!$Record.Mastercase_Width_cm__c}))Second flow:
The second flow has the same triggers has the first one.
It then get the Product record, and the Mastercase record (as a recall), and updates the Product record (with the recalled Mastercase data).
Let me know should you need more details! I'm open to any suggestions!
Thanks in advance for your help guys!
Kind regards,
Your discriptions suggests that the Product should always show the latest linked Masterbox data.
Why do you even need this data on that object? Pretty much anywhere in salesforce, e.g. record page layouts, reports, etc. you can show/reference any data from a related lookup/object without copying it onto the Product object.
If you really want the data/fields on the Product object, just create formula fields to show name, height, length and width and these will always show the current related data.
Please mark this as best answer or clarify the requirements as from what you described, I do not believe you should be doing this in Flow.
