I have Salesforce CRM and Marketing Cloud, I am using MC Data Sync to bring me the data I need from CRM, is this only from CRM to MC or can I also send contact updates from MC to CRM with the same connector?

Assuming that by "MC Data Sync", you mean Marketing Cloud Connect (the OOTB connector between SF CRM and SFMC), then it's bidirectional integration but with a slightly different approach for each direction.
CRM -> SFMC is done by mapping objects in Contact Builder and pushing data to Synchronized Data Extensions.
SFMC -> CRM pushes data back to CRM using Object Activity in Journey Builder or dedicated SalesforceObject AMPScript functions.
