We have a complicated sharing structure for records for which we have 5 key fields as the "identified" access to a record field. The access is basically as follows: Apex rules control the visibility of a record by confirming that the user is listed in one of the key fields. Then profiles determine who can edit or simply view the record.

Tasks are supposed to be accessible and viewable to all but we understand the parent hierarchy access.

I have users who are both listed in the key fields. Hence, the two users should be able to update a task. However, the tasks are only allowing the task assigned to user to modify or a system admin.

Thoughts on what I could be missing that is not allowing anyone to update the task?
