I'm trying to create a validation rule on the event object to ensure that an event is a group event for a certain event type/. I've created the validation rule AND(Subject = "Medical Event", NOT(IsGroupEvent)) which works once the event is created (e.g. previous events which meet the criteria don't error) but I can not create new events with this rule. Any suggestions to resolve this or alternative methods for ensuring an event has multiple owners?
The IsGroupEvent field is only set after the GroupEventType field is set.
The possible values for GroupEventType are:
- 0 (Non–group event)—An event with no invitees.
- 1 (Group event)—An event with invitees.
- 2 (Proposed event)—An event created when a user requests a meeting with a contact, lead, or person account using the Salesforce user interface. When the user confirms the meeting, the proposed event becomes a group event. You can’t create, edit, or delete proposed events in the API.
These 2x fields are read-only fields. Perhaps you want to explore building your VR around the GroupEventType field or other fields related to Invitees.
