Hi all, looking for some design recommendations based on a few key factors if anyone is willing to offer ideas.
My org offers 4 major services to 3 types of customers (currently), where each customer may have multiple contacts are the primaries to
1. receive certain information we disseminate and
2. serve as the SME for any of the 4 major services they elect to participate in.
So for each Customer, they could have a primary POC for the company that only wants to receive executive/program-level communications, have a separate POC to receive management-level comms, and have separate POCs for each of the 4 services we offer .... OR you have might have one or two POCs that serve multiple of the above mentioned roles (roles are strictly for communication).
Each Service has a different qualification/onboarding process, requiring differing fields, page layouts, and flows.
So, my thoughts are:
1. Accounts - separate customer types into Accounts using Record Types: Account A, Account B, Account C - where each record type would drive a specific page layout, set of fields, and possibly flows
2. Contacts - this is where I'm looking for best practice recommendations - I could separate Contact types by using Record Type, but then I have the potential to have 3 (for each account type) x 4 (for each service type) Record Types
- would it be better to just have a single contact type but then have like a checkbox for each potential role (Executive, Manager, Service 1/2/3/4 POC)?
3. Services Offered - I can treat these as a Custom Object OR could treat them as an Opportunity (our services are free but we still go through a pitch process to an interested company, and they elect to move forward or not)
Business Cases:
- See Accounts and related Contacts
- See contact types per account for relevant communications
- See which Accounts have participated in which services offered
- See status of each Account for which service they are participating in
- See which Accounts expressed interest in a service offered but declined to participate (for various reasons)
I hope this is enough information and appreciate any insight anyone can offer!
also to important to note, that we may have Accounts that join our program, but elect to NOT participate in any of our service offerings, in which case we still want to keep track of their non-service POCs for that Account.
