Hello Trailblazers,

I need help with a scenario. A hospital receives donations from its donors, it wants to maintain the database of the donations and the donors. It has 3 or more systems,  in one system the data is imported from spreadsheet (excel files) into a custom application and after some manipulation the data is moved to another system for reporting. The hospital wants to eliminate all of these systems and have their data in one system.

Which Salesforce Cloud can best suit this scenario. I am opting for Sales Cloud, Accounts object for donors, donations custom object for donations the hospital receives and a lookup relationship between Account(Donor) and Donations as one Account(Donor) can give multiple donations. I am also thinking of using the data loader to import the excel data into Salesforce.

Please let me know your suggestions.

Thanks!

Hi @Fahad Khan; you've already got the NPSP app installed and it's ideal for what you're trying to achieve, I think!

Donors are traditionally Contacts - that's the object used for people (donors, supporters, fundraisers etc)

The Opportunity object is perfect for donations, no need for a custom object.

The NPSP will then create a data model that attaches all your Contacts to an Account record it calls a 'Household' Account, so you can group people together who support the cause and who live together and communicate with them as one household, rather than individually (a bit of a bug-bear for donors!)

Head over to the 'Nonprofit Success Pack' trailhead group and join up, if you haven't already, and review the documents listed on the right hand side of the home page, especially those listed under NPSP Documentation. It is full of great real-life scenarios to help you set it up thoughtfully, as are the NPSP trails and modules.

    Good luck!
