In partnership with research agency Reputation Leaders Ltd., we surveyed over 2,600 higher education students and staff and found four key themes:

  1. Belonging sets the foundation for success
  2. Holistic student support puts student well-being at the center 
  3. Preparing students for the future of work is essential
  4. Lifelong learners are redefining expectations for flexibility & diversity  

With insights from colleges and universities in 11 countries, the report unpacks topics that are top of mind for education leaders. Some top stats:

  • Nearly half (47%) of the students in our survey reported selecting their institution for career prospects, but only 11% felt very prepared for the world of work
  • Students who have a great onboarding experience are 35 times more likely to have a great overall university experience
  • Students report that they need more well-being resources (36%) and more in-person events and activities (54%) to connect with their peers
  • Students are looking for a more tailored experience, and they believe technology can help. Currently, 50% of students feel they have a university that provides a personalized experience tailored to their needs, but for students who reported having a great university experience, 69% felt their experience was tailored
  • Students prefer email for university communications: 56% of students preferred email content from higher ed institutions vs 33% who preferred social media content
  • More than half of students (52%) expect to keep learning on the job, while 49% of students want to keep learning through a higher education institution, either online or face-to-face
  • 40% of institutions said in the survey that they are changing their approach to engaging alumni. Out of those, 45% are using a mix of in-person/virtual engagement
  • Students who felt they belonged were three times as likely to have a great experience. Of the students who are extremely likely to recommend their institution, 74% had a great experience, 99% were proud to be a student, and 73% had a great onboarding experience
