In the playground I am using, there is a checkbox for "Private" for new Opportunities a user makes. What is the relationship between a user making that record private and Profile permissions, Sharing Rules and permission sets.
For example, if the user checks the Private box, does that override a Sharing Rule to allow others access?

Hi Luke,
Private opportunities ignore sharing rules, but do respect record ownership and role hierarchy. It isn't strictly documented how permission sets (View or Modify All) would affect this, so it's worth a test. I suspect View/Modify All on the object level would not work, but View All Data would.
