Hi all!

I've got an interesting question that I'm wondering if anyone else has run into it and has a possible solution.

We know that Salesforce uses different precision factors for decimals in their CPQ calculations. Basically :

Basically when they prorate values they store a multiplier in the background, but that multiplier has precision of 4. But when they actually calculate they use number with higher precision, so when we use that multiplier it basically has less precision.

Now this is an issue when we try to calculate pricing for renewals and how our customer calculates their ARR values. Basically our the TCA when it's won and done can be 100k but then the recurring subscription value can be 99.999,99 because we have to calculate using the subscriptions and exclude any one-time bookings. Since the subscriptions have a value on them with a lower precision it's possible we're missing some decimal values that CPQ is actually using in the backend.

Has anyone run into this issue, or have a way to circumvent this rounding issue? There are ways to work this out for them, but it would currently not be a very clean solution, and we're looking for a way to solve this issue at it's core preferably and not the symptoms of it.

Are we certain this has to do with Prorate Multiplier? The TCA functionality is called “Target” and not “Override” because it isn’t always mathematically possible to achieve the desired value. For example, when you sell a quantity of 3 of a single subscription, it is not possible for that Quote Line to round off at $10,000 because the unit price is going to be $3,333.33 or $3,333.34, resulting in $9,999.99 or $10,000.02, but nothing between those values. If you have multiple lines and still experience issues, the best you can do is use TCA to get close, then remove TCA and adjust a single QL discount manually to get all the way there.--
