I want to automatically set a checkbox to True on a Contact record when that Contact has a current affiliation with a certain role. So Role has to be a match and the Affiliation status has to be Current (not Former). I've done that in the past with Workflows: One checks the box when the Affiliation is created and matches the required values. The other unchecks the box when the Affiliation status is changed to "Former". However there's no update if the Affiliation is deleted or the role is changed. So wondering if there's more fool-proof way to accomplish this?

@Claes Jonasson - Have you resolved your issue? If not, have you attempted using a record-trigger flow on the Affiliation record to update your Contact fields?
