We are hitting metadata usage limits in our production org. I want to be notified whenever we are hitting or near the limits of metadata consumption. I know how usage is calculated and now I just want to know a way through which we can query or user api to get the total usage and use it to notify the platform maintenance teams when hitting the approx. limits.

Actually this is storage limit not part of the metadata, You can not query on storage limit.
