If you pull the DX formatted source from one org and then use the same package.xml file to pull data down from another org, sometimes the content of the metadata will have changes (reported by git), but when you look more closely, the files are actually the same, but with some XML elements in different orders. Does anyone know why this happens, and is there any way to work around this limitation? @Salesforce DX

Long-standing problem, and difficult to find good, efficient solutions for due to the lack of XML "container" nodes in the metadata. Similar discussion here.
