If I read the new security update correctly, users will have to reset their password before a change to their emails takes effect.  I have 2 questions regarding this:

  • All of my users are SSO enabled and do not have passwords.  In fact we do not allow then to login via a user name and password, SSO only.  How will this security update impact these users when their email address is changed?
  • About 75% of my users IDs are created and maintained via an interface with a separate user management system.  The uses are created in a separate database and sent into SFDC via the interface, which then will update the users details, including email address.  Unfortunately, the users are  quite fluid and their information can change on a regular basis.  How will the new security update impact these users when their email address is changed?

I have this same concern with our full sandbox and production where  users are SSO enabled and do not have passwords.  We also do not allow login via user name and password. These users have the  Is SSO Enabled" permission enabled in an assigned Permission Set. We plan to test this in a preview sandbox next week.
