Hello,

I just had a situation where I merged two accounts, and both had opportunities related to them. One account had 37 opportunities and the other account had 1. While merging, I was forced to choose which of the opportunities I wanted to keep. When the merge was completed, the single opportunity on the other account disappeared. Is this normal? Did I do something wrong? I've merged quite a few accounts over the past few months and now I'm worried that opportunity records are missing.

@James Browne Hi! thanks for reaching out. Here's a little background information first. This donor made a $15 donation right before we switched to an automated website donation system that inputs the gifts into Salesforce, which resulted in him having two separate accounts.

This is from memory so it's basically the steps but maybe not the exact wording.

    1. The system flagged for me that there were two similar accounts so I clicked "view duplicates."
    2. I checked off the box next to both of the matching account records to compare.
    3. It then took me to a side-by-side comparison page that showed me the different fields and made me click on one or the other to keep the content of a single field.
      1. example: Best Gift Year: 2018 Best Gift Year: 2021
      2. example: Lifetime Giving: $15 Lifetime Giving: $365
    4. I could only check one of the two boxes for both of the examples, I couldn't keep both - which would've been correct. There should now be a Lifetime Giving total of $380
    5. I clicked the larger and most recent amount options, and then when I hit merge and went to check the profile, it only showed a total of $365 instead of adding that additional $15 opportunity to the new record. The # of gifts also matched the duplicate record with a total of $365, when it should have added one additional $15 gift that was made in 2018.

    Does that make sense?
