What resources are out there for training folks in the very basics of NPSP data entry? The context here is when letting a new person touch my NPSP database, giving them a very basic primer on concepts like "Save", "Household Account", "don't put Joe and Jane" in Contact.FirstName, "search for a Contact before entering a new one", "if you find two unhouseholded Contacts with the same address, tell someone that maybe they need to be merged" ...sort of a cross between generic NPSP features and generic data entry rules of thumb, not trying to address additional customizations at all.
I'm thinking of a single standard "certification-like" training sequence, not too long, that would allow anyone to know that their new volunteer or staff at least has a fighting chance at getting basic constituent and donation data into NPSP correctly. As in, you could ask them, "Have you taken the NPSP Data Entry Certification?".
I do know about NPSP documentation, the excellent NPSP training videos...I guess I'm thinking of a "one-stop standard" that might roll them together into a sequence which focuses specifically on data entry rather than db customization.
Does such a thing already exist and I just live in a cave? Or if not, is it a reasonable idea?
Have you thought about @Trailhead Community Convo modules... they've got a trail on NPSP that, in my opinion, covers the basics. Another option would be to put together a simple series of scavenger hunt exercises that the new user does in a sandbox.
