We receive scholarship documents from students as attachments via Email-to-Case - works great.

Now we'd like to receive teacher references the same way. But when the teacher submits an Email-to-Case, the Case is associated with the teacher's Contact record not the student's. And the student should not receive the teacher reference at all, so no putting the student's email in the Cc: or Bcc: field of the email.

It seems like there must be a tricky way to automate an update of the Contact Name field (or a clone of the Case record then an update of the field) to associate the Case with the student - but I can't think of how, or even where the teacher would place the student's email address in the email message so it can easily be parsed.

Or maybe Email-To-Case is not the right tool, and some other way is better?

FA can do all of that and I'm sure some others like Form Stack. We have a lot of forms that require the email to be entered of the student that a faculty member is filling out a form for. In order to submit in the connector we search SF for that email and if it is found then we would create whatever records tied to that Contact record now that we found it. If they enter in a bad email the form errors.
