Similar to my previous question about Record Types (the person who did the setup and configuration left 3 weeks later). When I go to Customize..Contacts..Page Layouts as specified on page 9 of the Configuration Guide, it lists only one Layout Name of "Contact Layout" with the installed package of "Nonprofit Starter Pack". Is there supposed to be a separate contact page layout for the Volunteers app? Currently there is not. But when I go to Customize..Campaigns..Page Layouts as specified on page 10 of the guide, it lists 4 different Campaign Page Layouts: "Campaign Layout" with blank under Installed Package; "NPSP Campaign Layout" in the Nonprofit Starter Pack package; "Volunteers Campaign Layout" in the Volunteers package; and another one also called "Volunteers Campaign Layout" except this one is blank under Installed Package. The 2nd and 3rd ones have a box with a down-arrow in it that says "Managed - Installed" when you hover over it. The 1st and 4th ones do not have this. Am I supposed to have 4 different Campaign Page Layouts? If so, why do I need four? And why do I only have one for Contact Page Layout? Should there be at least two - one for the NPSP app and one for the Volunteers app? Or can I just use one page layout for both apps? Hard to tell what the heck is going on when I don't know what the person before me did.

Any managed package can include page layouts. So it's impossible for any help guide to give you an accurate view of what you can expect to see as far as layouts go, because it all depends on what was installed or created.

If you're not using a layout at all and it's not from a managed package, you can of course delete it. You should get a warning message if you can't (such as if it's selected for any record type or is the master). You could always recreate it.

But if it's not used by any record type or profile, it's no bother to leave it alone as well.
