Extracting the Street Number from an Address

Has anyone ever had to extract just street number from an address like in this example: 

1200 14th Ave S.

And the number we want is the "house number" or 1200?

I'm working with a client who does canvassing (door-to-door fundraising) and they want to be able to select a range of house numbers in a report. So that they can assign a block of houses to a specific canvasser.
