Do report folders shared with a role allow access up the role hierarchy?

Question

I have a VP who is above and connected to other roles in the role heirarchey tree. They are currently not seeing reports and report folders which are shared with roles beneath them in the role heirarchey tree. I tested in the sandbox by creating and sharing a new report folder with a role, then logging in as my VP.

Additional note, I've tested with and without Enhanced Folder Sharing for Reports and Dashboards and same issue.

I this normal functionality? We can work around it if this is the case, but so far have not been able to find any related documentation. I'd appreciate any assistance.

Hi Jacob,

I don't think the folder sharing in reports "looks up" the role hierarcy in the way you describe. I think the folder(s) would either need to be shared with the VP role or shared with the VP role and the subordinate roles.

Hello Jacob,   When viewing all folders, click 'Share' to select who to share with. This must be done manually for each folder. Hope this helps!   Cheers,
