Why is "Stay-in-Touch" being phased out??

Why is the "Stay-in-Touch" feature that allows contact information updates being phased out in Summer '17?? What tools exist that can serve as a (free) replacement? I volunteer for a non-profit that needs this tool badly, and I hate to see it go...I was looking around the appexchange and found an app called FormAssembly, but my organization cannot afford the monthly subscription cost. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

    Hey Ines,

     

    That's tricky when there's only been one response - haha. I suppose Contact Update Request is an "okay" solution, but I don't love it.

     

    It just seems like a step-backward to me. It's Stay-In-Touch is such a useful feature, and I'm really struggling with the decision from Salesforce to phase it out with no replacement or superior alternative. I guess I'll just have to make do.
