Is there a way that users can only access accounts and contacts they own?

Is it possible to lock down user access so they can only see Accounts, Contacts and Opportunites they own?

 

I was thinking if there was permission set i could create that would apply this?

    Hi James,

     

    Permission sets are meant to open up access and not lock down access so u just need to make ur OWD for Accounts, Contacts and Opps to Private then the User will only be able to see the records that they own.
