How to use mail merge with conditional formatting

I am struggling with this one...  I have several merge fields that I have working.  However, when the data is blank it returns those annoying underscores.  I have read articles on how to deal with this but I am having a tough time.  So one of the fields would be Contact_Email.  How do I use a conditional format to return no response or at least hide the underscores so they are not visible.

 

Any help would be appreaciated!
