However I do have a question that I haven't been able to find online. I currently do not see an option to color or theme the tabs in a Lightning app, they remain the same white as they did before. I was wondering if there was a way to color these tabs in the lightning experience.

Unfortunately I am not using a Lightning component as a tab, I am specifically talking about the standard object tabs in the Lightning experience such as Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities, etc.
I could have sworn that I have seen examples of these tabs being colored in. Perhaps these were all just custom Lightning apps/components?
