Hi Community,

I am discovering the "Orders" data model and processes around it and have the impression that this object is relevant only for B2B processes.

The reason is the object is linked to opportunities and contracts.

What about scenarios for retail companies for instance ? If you buy a shoe from a website and you have Salesforce linked to the ERP where orders are stored, is the Salesforce Orders relevant in this case ?

Please advise and share your thoughts and experiences.

Many thanks,

Omar

No.  Orders can be anything  your business needs.  For example, It can be products or services you've committed to provide to your customers, either Businesses or Consumers.

How you use Orders will depend on how you're using the rest of Salesforce for your corporate data --- are you tracking each POS as a closed Won Opportunity?    Or maybe you want to use Orders to track a bill or invoice payment.

Start with what you want to capture and report on from within Salesforce, then figure out which objects make the most sense to use.
