Hello SF Community, I've got a question regarding User Groups and Contact Sharing.

My org has Contacts set to Private for our OWD. I have a specific record type that should only be accessible to a certain group. For that reason we have a public group that allows this. I ran a data load in a sandbox to insert users for select profiles into this group, but it appears that non-group members are now able to view the restricted contacts. To my knowledge these contacts should still be private, and throw an insufficient privledge error when a Sales User tries view something they shouldn't. So I'm not sure what went wrong.

Has anyone come across this previously, and how did you fix it?

    Hi Brandon,

You'll need to review other things that could give access besides the sharing rule to the public group. For example, could they be getting access for being higher than the record owner in the role hierarchy?
