Customer Community: Limiting record list items so the user can only see the records associated with their account

I'm trying to use the record list lightening component to show the custom object records associated with the customer account.  I think it has to do with what I'm listing as the filters in the list view I'm building or the filters on the account field that sits on the custom object but I have tried everything I can think of and it doesn't seem to work.  Any help is much appreciated!

    Hi Jodi,

     

    If it's controlled by parent, then it has a Master-Detail relation to another object. Master-Detail relations control the record ownership, and child records cannot have an owner of their own - they are always, as the name so aptly puts it, controlled by their parent.

     

    So let's look at the parent object - what sharing settings does that have?
