Showing search bar on only one page in salesforce communities

Hello I am trying to build out a custom communitiy using salesforce lighting community's Napili template. I want to remove the search bar on all of the pages and I have figure out how to do this with the HTML header. I however want to have the search bar enabled for the search page or create a custom search page and I can not figure out how to do this. I have a web developer who knows HTML better than I do working with me. But we have had no luck. Search only seems to work when it is set for all the pages globally. Has anyone had any luck removing the search bar for all but one page?

 

We have also tried creating a custom search component but when I try and use the search function I recieve and error as soon as I try and type something in to the search bar. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

    Hi Joseph,

     

    So I have tried both of those when I hide the global search bar my custom componet would error out, when I enable the Bar my componet just don't do anything. I have read those articals but we are still missing something. I can post the code here if that helps.
