There are two record types. Each month should have four columns:
1. Open Cases of Record Type 1
2. Closed Cases of Record Type 1
3. Open Cases of Record Type 2
4. Closed Cases of Record Type 2
Here is where it gets tricky:
A case can be reopened. If Case 123 of Record Type 1 is opened in January, closed in February, reopened in March, and reclosed in April, it should be included in the record count of each of the months. Case 123 would be counted in Column 1 (Open Cases of Record Type 1) in the month of January and March. It would be counted in Column 2 (Closed Cases of Record Type 1) in the month of February and April.
We have date fields for Date Opened, Date Reopened, Date Closed, and Date Reclosed. The X-axis would be the last 13 months (rolling) and Y-axis the count of records.
Is this possible to acheive this? Can anyone help?
Here is visual of what I'm trying to replicate:

You need to make a custom object to track the history. That will give you the ability to track the 0,1, or many times it hits each of these stages. Process Builder is great at making these. You make a Custom Object with a Master Detail or Lookup pointing at your custom Case. Give it fields like "Old Stage" , "New Stage", "Record Type", and any other value thats useful. Just have Process builder fire when the case Open/Closed field is changed.
