Validation Cry for Help!

Question

I dont know if its Friday or that I'm just terrible at validation rules but... why doesn this not work?

AND(

ISPICKVAL(StageName, "Initial Discovery"),

NOT(OR(

ISPICKVAL(PRIORVALUE(StageName), "Solution Mapping"),

ISPICKVAL(PRIORVALUE(StageName), "Solution Validation"),

ISPICKVAL(PRIORVALUE(StageName), "Quote & Negotiation"),

ISPICKVAL(PRIORVALUE(StageName), "Contract Closed"),

ISPICKVAL(PRIORVALUE(StageName), "Closed Lost")

))

)

Its meant to stop users from moving an oportunity back to Initail Discovery if teh stage is already at any of the following ones.

I don't think you need the NOT(), do you?

AND(

OR(

ISPICKVAL(PRIORVALUE(StageName), "Solution Mapping"),

ISPICKVAL(PRIORVALUE(StageName), "Quote & Negotiation"),

I think the propblem is just your NOT() function.  This will always evaluate to false, as the prior stage will always NOT be one of them.     AND(       ISPICKVAL(StageName, "Initial Discovery"),       OR(           ISPICKVAL(PRIORVALUE(StageName), "Solution Mapping"),           ISPICKVAL(PRIORVALUE(StageName), "Solution Validation"),           ISPICKVAL(PRIORVALUE(StageName), "Quote & Negotiation"),           ISPICKVAL(PRIORVALUE(StageName), "Contract Closed"),           ISPICKVAL(PRIORVALUE(StageName), "Closed Lost")       ) )
