Is it possible to batch insert custom fields onto an Opportunity layout?

I have a spreadsheet of project mgmt. phases and milestones. I want to batch upload the list as checkboxes onto an Oppty. layout. with a corresponding date completed field. There has to be an easy way to get this done.
