Hi Troy,
You have a couple of options. (1) you could add a new option to the Account Type field. So maybe something like "Closed" or "Dead". or (2) You could just create a checkbox custom field on the Account called "Closed". With either option you can then add filters into your reports and list views to exclude "Closed" accounts without having to delete the data.
