WHY is there a Subject Field and a Type field under activities. Doesn't this seem redundant? I could see if the subject line was a text area but it is a picklist. We want to standardize reports by pulling activity reports by Type (i.e Meeting, Call, Email, etc.). I know we can write in what we want for the Subject but it still doesn't make sense that it's a pick list value.
AM I missing something or is it really just a redundant issue?

Hmmmm... by default Emails should automatically be Activity.Type = Email
are you getting something else when you add e-mails on your SFDC.Org?
