Are the Email Engagements on Email Records for a contact only those taken by that contact?

Question

When using the Salesforce Chrome extension for Gmail to record and track emails in Salesforce, is the engagement activity on those emails within the contact or lead activity timeline reflective of only those made by that contact/lead? For example, if an email is sent to a contact with an internal colleague copied, are the engagements that show for that email on the contact record activity only those taken by the contact, or do they include those taken internally by colleagues copied on the email?
