Communities default language Overrides 302 Redirects?

Hi all,

I'm trying to redirect guest users from a language where the relative URL path hitting communities is for instance..... /s/?language=ar_AE and redirect to .../s/?language=ar

I've attempted to setup a 302 redirect via the site.com studio > redirects; however, it seems the community default language trumps any redirect setting.  Is this because there is no language in Salesforce as in this case ar_AE; therefore, the default language takes precedence over a 302 redirect?

Any insight would be appreciated.
