Hi Lightning Now!

I am working on testing out features in Lightning and I have a question on functionality.

In Classic, if I put data in a look up field and it was the only data matching the entry (both full info and partial), then hit save, it would complete the field.

In Lightning, I put in the data, hit save and it tells me that I have an error.  I have to tell it the object to search in and then pick out the specific object.  Lightning is adding 3-4 new key strokes.

Is there a way to identify the data in the specific object as Lightning did and save me the extra strokes?
