If you run webinars or other events that attract both Leads and Contacts, you may be frustrated by the fact that most SFDC reports are either Leads reports or Contacts reports.

Also some campaign reports which displays both Leads and Contact has only a limited number of fields.

If that is you ... Or if you just want to read about a nifty way to create webinar and events reports.

Please Read on.

When you create your event upload all of the members from your event to a Salesforce Campaign with the relevant statuses of course: Attended, No Show, etc...

To see all the attendees be they Leads or Contacts create a report called Campaign with Campaign Members. This allows you to see everyone in one report, and if you use Record Type ID you can see who are Leads and who are Contacts.

  • I always create a Matrix report with Country / Record Type. This tells the Marketing and Sales team whether their event is attracting new or existing customers and how many of each.

The default Campaign with Campaign Members reports only has thirty Member Standard Fields, which may not include the custom fields you prefer, for instance standard fields fdo not include: Industry, Annual Revenue, Do Not Email, Date MQL.

or ask your friendly SFDC Admin to do so.

Now you have one event report with all of the attendees, Leads or Contacts in one place, with all the custom fields to allow your sales team to prioritise their time and make contacts with the most promising prospects.
